A century of women MPs 1918 - 2018

Parliament’s Vote 100 Project, University of Westminster & the History of Parliament Trust will host this international, interdisciplinary conference to mark the centenary of the passage of the Parliament (Qualification of Women) Act and the Representation of the People Act in 1918. It will be held on 6 and 7 September 2018 at the University of Westminster (6 Sep) and Houses of Parliament (7 Sep). It will explore the experiences, contributions and achievements of women MPs, the challenges they faced, and debates and issues around gender and representation. 

There will alos be the opportunity to visit Voice and Vote: Women's Place in Parliament, a landmark public exhibition. More information about this can be found on the Vote 100 website here

The conference will be launched with a free public event on Wednesday 5 September at the Houses of Parliament – ‘Being a woman MP: Round-table discussion with former and sitting members’. For further details and registration (essential) see here
